Join me in Venice for a two-day immersive masterclass designed for photographers seeking to create evocative, exhibition-ready fine art images. Held just after the Biennale, this is a rare opportunity to experience and photograph the city in a uniquely poetic state—shrouded in mist, emptied of crowds, and rich in atmospheric drama. We will explore the haunting beauty of Venice’s architecture softened by fog, blending its timeless facades with fleeting silhouettes of figures passing through narrow alleys and quiet piazzas. The interplay of light, shadow, and stillness offers the perfect canvas for powerful black-and-white storytelling. To elevate our cinematic vision, we will work part of the time with two professional models, allowing you to compose emotionally charged scenes that feel like frames from an arthouse film. Through guided shooting sessions and artistic direction, you will craft images that speak of solitude, elegance, and the mysterious soul of Venice. Both digital and analogue photographers are welcome. If you bring an analogue camera, you’ll have the opportunity to create images that echo the timeless essence of masters like Fulvio Roiter and Peter Lindbergh. I will share specific techniques and insights into shooting film in foggy, moody light—guiding you in crafting analogue photographs that are as powerful and evocative as your digital work. This masterclass is tailored for photographers with a passion for fine art, storytelling, and dramatic monochrome aesthetics. Whether you're building a new portfolio or refining your artistic voice, this experience will deepen your visual language and leave you with unforgettable images. And: Don’t worry about the cold—photographers are storytellers, and true visual storytelling embraces all conditions. It’s often in the discomfort and unpredictability that the most extraordinary images are born. And there will be time for warm drinks too. This masterclass invites you to step beyond comfort and into creativity, capturing gallery-ready photographs that resonate with emotion and artistry.
EQUIPMENT
CAMERA - DSLR or Mirrorless LENSES - 24-70mm f/2.8 - or any prime lens (fixed focal): 50mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.8, etc. - must not be necessarily f1.8, can be also f/4 but you will be happier with a more flexible aperture.
OTHER - tripod : mandatory - enough battery power If you have different lenses, contact me and I will be happy to advise you. Do not buy immediately new lenses!
NOTEOOK - for photo selection & post processing - be sure to take enough memory cards and a way to transfer your pics to pc
